Cookie

Cookie is a 12 year old female orca who lives at Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park. She was captured in Russia.

Cookie was likely captured in 2015. At some point after her capture, she was moved to Dalian Laohutan Ocean Park, along with three other orcas to be trained for the opening of Shanghai. The four orcas likely moved to Shanghai in Fall 2018 and the park officially opened on November 16th.

Cookie is the dominant female at the park. She gave birth to her first calf, a male, on September 10th, 2021. The father is Pànghǔ, the oldest male at the park. Cookie rejected her calf after birth and the calf had to be hand raised by the trainers. The calf was named Cody.

Cookie became pregnant with her second calf in early 2022. She gave birth in July 2023, but the calf didn't survive.

Cookie can be seen with any member of the pod. As of summer 2023, she has been reintroduced to Cody. Cody had been able to learn some basic behaviors from her and the two can be seen in and out of shows together.
